National Youth Leadership Forum
What Is the National Youth Leadership Forum?
The National Youth Leadership Forum is a program that brings together young people from across the country. The program includes leadership training, youth development, and community service projects.
It’s run by the National 4-H Council and provides valuable opportunities for young people to develop skills and expand their horizons in an environment that fosters self-confidence and mutual respect. There are two main types of NYLF STEM programs which I talk about below.
How do you get invited to the National Youth leadership Forum?
The National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) is a program run by Envision.
The National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) is a program run by Envision, an educational organization founded in 1985. The mission of Envision is to inspire and equip students with the skills and passion for being leaders.
Envision has several programs, including the National Youth Leadership Forum. NYLF provides high school students with leadership training to prepare them for college life and career success after college graduation.
NYLF’s goal is to help young people develop their leadership potential to positively influence society through their actions and decisions during the next decade of their lives.
Envision runs the National Student Leadership Conference and the Oxford Leadership Academy.
In addition to the National Youth Leadership Forum programs, Envision also runs the National Student Leadership Conference and the Oxford Leadership Academy. The NSLC is a five-day program at Princeton University in June.
Each year, 50 high school students are selected nationwide through an application process to attend this summer leadership institute. At NSLC, participants participate in workshops led by college faculty on topics such as policy analysis, financial literacy, and technology skills.
Participants also meet with inspiring guest speakers such as former Secretary of State, who spoke at last year’s conference.
The Oxford Leadership Academy is an all-expenses-paid trip for high school students from across America whose goal is to develop strong leaders who will be able to tackle challenges facing our country today and tomorrow.
Students spend ten days living together at Oxford University in England, where they engage in rigorous academic coursework.
Taught by world-class professors from England and America along with daily field trips around London and Oxford, where they learn about British culture through historical visits like Buckingham Palace or Parliament Square (Westminster).
The National Youth Leadership Forum is specifically aimed at high school students with leadership potential.
The National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) aims explicitly at high school students with leadership potential. Students must be 14–19 years old and enrolled in a U.S.-based high school or homeschooling program interested in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), or medicine.
The program provides participants with opportunities to explore their interests through hands-on activities that promote leadership skills.
The coursework includes: exploring career options, developing leadership skills, learning about community service, and participating in team-building exercises.
This helps in developing life skills such as managing time wisely and communicating effectively with others. They also participate in community outreach projects such as tutoring sessions, where they will have the opportunity to help others learn new things while improving themselves at the same time.
There are four main types of National Youth Leadership Forum programs
There are four main types of National Youth Leadership Forum programs: NYLF Explore STEM, NYLF Pathways to STEM, NYLF Medicine, and NYLF Law & CSI.
NYLF’s programs focus on developing STEM skills.
NYLF Explore STEM offers real-world STEM experiences for future innovators, engineers and doctors. Six days of impactful learning at one our eleven university program sites allows students to explore career options, increase confidence, and lead. Students also get to envision their future on a “Mission to Mars” with like-minded middle school students across the country.
NYLF Pathways to STEM offers a unique learning experience to bright and forward-thinking elementary students who will become next generation scientists, engineers, doctors, and software developers.
Through hands-on workshops and simulations, students learn by doing. Students can choose between the six-day Residential program or the five day Day program.
