Yuna, whose birth name is Shin Yuna, was born in Yongin, South Korea. She is part of a wealthy family and has an older sister named Chaeyeon and a younger sister named Chaemin. Yuna is known for her sweet tooth and has been nicknamed “Chocolate Holic”.
She attended Hanlim Multi Art School, majoring in musical theatre, and previously went to Kyw Dance School. Yuna and her sister Chaeyeon both appeared on SBS K-Pop Star 3 and Mnet’s SIXTEEN. Before joining JYP Entertainment, she auditioned unsuccessfully for Fantagio.
Yuna trained for five years before officially debuting with ITZY on February 12, 2019. Despite her impressive dance skills, Yuna has a fear of many things and is considered to be a scaredy-cat.
