What you should know about scholarships

Scholarships for high school juniors can help you pay for college. Scholarships are available from the government, corporations, and foundations that want to encourage students to go on to college.

It’s a great idea to apply for scholarships when you’re in junior high because there will be more opportunities in high school and even more as an adult.

Your chances of winning a scholarship increase if you are persistent and keep applying until you win one! The best way to find out about scholarship opportunities is by doing your research online or asking around at school about what kind of awards the teachers know about.

If you win a scholarship through a state program like AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) or PEEPS (Providing Equal Education Pursuits through Scholarship), then make sure that your grades stay good, so they’ll keep paying their promise.
